Trans-Tasman Travel Bubble: Australia and New Zealand

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced a two-way, quarantine-free trans-Tasman travel bubble. This will start from Sunday, 18 April 2021 11.59pm or rather 19 April 2021 00.00am.

The decision comes after months of setbacks following minor outbreaks in both countries. However, Miss Ardern warned that despite the travel bubble, travellers will still need to prepare for the possibility of any major disruptions.

“While quarantine-free travel to Australia and vice versa will start in a fortnight, it will not be what it was pre-COVID,”

“While we absolutely wish to encourage family and friends to reunite and visitors to come and enjoy the hospitality New Zealand is ready and waiting to offer.”

“Those undertaking travel on either side of the ditch will do so under the guidance of flyer beware.”

“People will need to plan for the possibility of travel being disrupted if there is an outbreak.”

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said in the press conference. This is cited from the source here.

When travellers fly, they require to wear a mask on a flight. They will also need to download and use the NZ COVID Tracer app for use in New Zealand.

Recently Qantas launched a new campaign to get people to go back flying again.

Summary for Trans-Tasman Travel Bubble

This is a great news for aviation, which struggled in the midst of the pandemic. However, any established travel bubble is a good news.

This is such a contrast from Singapore – Hongkong travel bubble as reported on the article below.

We hope to see more travel bubble around the world, so that we can get to travel again.
