Singapore Airlines New Business Class on 737-800 or MAX? Speculation on flat bed seat design for previously owned SilkAir aircrafts overhaul.
This is presumably for the Boeing 737 MAX 8 fleets.
Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft has yet to enter service with Singapore Airlines. This is although the carrier now has a fleet of six inherited from its merger with SilkAir.
Aircraft we are expecting between now and 31st March 2021 as per the list below.
- 9V-MBG
- 9V-MBH
- 9V-MBI
- 9V-MBJ
- 9V-MBK
- 9V-MBL
- 9V-MBM
- 9V-MBN
9V-MBG will be the first upcoming delivery. This is because it had a 2-hour test flight in Seattle this morning. We believe this means the aircraft is ready for delivery.
Previously we have covered our experience on the article below on Boeing 737-800.
SIA announced previously in fact that they will install Thompson Vantage flat-bed seats to SilkAir’s Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft fleet. Additionally this is in advance of those jets moving across to the mainline operation.
The business class typically lay out in an alternating 2-2 and 1-1 configuration. Therefore providing a ‘throne’ like seat at alternate rows with reasonable storage space at either side of the seat as well.
We in fact will expect a similar version to FlyDubai Business Class as per our illustration here below.

This will be the announcement of the new seat overhaul for the Boeing 737 MAX 8 owned by SilkAir previously.
Conclusion
After the merger of Singapore Airlines and SilkAir, Boeing 737-8 incur the same cost for the award flight. Therefore, making it a lower bang for buck in redeeming award flights.
We hope to get a better flight experience flying these regional flyers. This will without a doubt a good move in the right direction.
We tried refer to the official website here below. However, we could not find the page. We believe that the page is in fact being updated here.
