This is summary of how my 14-days SHN got extended by 7 days, ultimately it became 21-Days Singapore SHN Quarantine in Singapore.
UPDATE (24 June 2021): Singapore SHN now returns to 14-days Quarantine from higher-risk countries.
Firstly, I hope with this article, it will help you to plan your stay in SHN. Good luck to those who will enter Singapore in the near future.
Without a doubt, 21 days quarantine is a very long time. It almost takes a month in a hotel room, not being able to go out freely and breathe fresh air.
Recently, I just arrived from San Francisco by flying Singapore Airlines Business Class to Singapore. It was a long flight and I was particularly not looking forward to my 14-days SHN Quarantine in Singapore.
PRO TIP: Try to find a flight in which the arrival time is somewhere in between Late Afternoon and Evening 10PM.
Why is that so? Technically you will spend 1/2 day less in the quarantine. Therefore, it makes no difference arriving in the early morning or late evening. That particular day will be your Day 0.
Given that I did not know which hotel I will go. Hence, I also came up to create a list as a reference to know which hotel you may end up at.
Furthermore, Ministry of Health (MOH) announced a new rule kick in from Wednesday May 26 onwards. Singaporeans and permanent residents (PR) will need to present a valid negative COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test taken within 72 hours before they depart for Singapore.

My SHN Hotel
Shortly after the flight, I was already in the bus. They are very hopeful, for instance, they helped to carry and transfer our luggage to the bus.
Finally, I arrived at Grand Hyatt Hotel. Phew, I thought this would not be so bad.
I think I ended up in the old wing. Here is the photo of my room.
Notice that there is kettle in the room. Unfortunately however, the kettle is not working!
The refrigerator isn’t working as well. Finally, I even had to open the cabinet to let the hot air out.
I’m on 14-days quarantine. What will happen?
This happened on my 7th day in SHN.
I was too under the 14-days quarantine rule. Afterwards, with the new rule came in in the middle of my quarantine, I have not much information for the extension of 7 days.
On the contrary, I tried calling front-desk, and they also had no clue on whatsoever.
Turns out, I have to undergo additional 7 days of SHN.
Furthermore, I have to pay for the extra cost! This was not subsidised by Government or whatsoever.
As I write on this article, the rule was long ago had passed. Therefore, I do not think anybody will ever get 14 days SHN anymore.
SHN Costs for 21 days
SHN of 14 days will costs you S$2,000. I believe in this case, the amount does not include GST.
To illustrate, this is equivalent to ~US$ 1511 or ~IDR 21,594,520.

The price in fact stated here did not include cost of the PCR Swab Test which costs $125 (incl GST) per test.

Day 13 COVID Test in SHN Hotel Singapore
Previously, in my 14-days SHN regime, my test was somewhere between Day 10 – Day 12.
Now my first test in the hotel is on Day 13.
Day 20 COVID Test in SHN Hotel Singapore
Same thing, the test is done at the hotel itself. Therefore, minimising risk of transmission with the outside world.
Day 13 and Day 20 are the two days I could finally walk a little bit freely, and breathe some fresh air.
The fresh air is because the test are at the outdoor.
Summary
All in all, 14-days in such condition is very torturous. Let alone spending 21-Days Singapore SHN. It is purely draw of luck on which hotel you get and the service you receive.
Before I end, I will post the things you probably need when you are serving the 21-Days Singapore SHN. These will help you immensely going through the 21 days period.
- Work
This is what I feel the most crucial part. Being productive is very important.
For my experience, yes, I did quite a bit of work in hotel, so time will pass rather quickly. - Entertainment (Phone / Tablet / Laptop / TV Box like Apple TV)
Yes I eventually saw “Apple TV” on wireless networks. For the first few days Entertainment & Games will help you get through the day. However, on the last stretch, they don’t make you happier anymore. - HDMI Cable
This is good to extend your laptop screen to watch some entertainment - Instant Noodles / Snacks
The time when the meal comes are erratic. So if you need to eat on time, you will need them. - Exercise Materials (e.g. Yoga Mats)
21 days without exercise can get you fat very quickly. - Friends in Singapore
Delivery from friends can cheer up your mood during your stay in quarantine. - SafeTravel
